Swaddling a Baby? The Miracle Blanket is Truly a Miracle!

by Jodi on January 6, 2007

Prior to the birth of my second child, I heard that the Miracle Blanket was the best blanket available for swaddling a baby. I decided to purchase two blankets, so that I could keep one as a backup, but chose to keep the blankets in the packaging in case I didn’t need them.  The price does seem a bit steep for a blanket, but if they worked as I heard they did….. well, that would be worth almost anything!

Turns out I needed the Miracle Blanket the very first night out of the hospital.  By 10:00 pm, my baby broke the swaddle of the cheapy blanket we started with.  Exhausted, I broke open the Miracle Blanket bag and we quickly read the directions.  A few minutes later, my baby was sleeping soundly.

The Miracle Blanket is an extremely long lightweight cloth blanket with a pocket for the baby, little flaps to hold down the arms, and lots of extra cloth to swaddle around and tuck in.  According to the company, the unusual cut of the fabric requires a whole lot of material, which is why it costs more than a regular blanket.

We used the Miracle Blanket as directed for 4 1/2 months.  At that time, we tried to transition to a sleep sack but our baby wasn’t having it.  Therefore, we slowly transitioned away from the blanket by first swaddling him with one arm out, then both arms.  By 6 months, we had fully transitioned, and I’m handing it down!

The Miracle Blanket is sold in baby specialty stores, or at http://www.miracleblanket.com/.
