A Doll That Your Child Can Love and Learn From

by Jodi on September 4, 2007

My little girl loves dolls, but she especially loves to hear stories about them.  Like most moms, I am happiest when my child’s loves are combined with education and global awareness, so I was very excited to hear about Karito Kids by KidsGive.

karito A Doll That Your Child Can Love and Learn FromKarito Kids, which were introduced in late summer, are five dolls, each with a part fiction/part fact story (told in an included hard back book written at a 5th grade level).  The dolls are larger than the average doll, at 21 inches, and are fashioned to look like an 11 year old girl (a true to life 11 year old girl, not a Hollywood version).  The dolls are very realistic looking and are ethnically correct, and are wearing outfits that are contemporary.

The doll we received, Wan Ling, is from Shanghai, and has a great story – she lives with her parents and grandmother, and has just moved to Shanghai for her father’s new job.  I’m impressed with the quality of the doll itself and also how realistic her face is.  My daughter loves her and carries her around all over!  Karito Kids are both huggable, and durable, which is the perfect mix for a doll!

Karito Kids also helps educate your child on global awareness.  With each purchase, you will receive a unique code that can be entered on their website.  With this code, your child can choose one of four charities for a donation to be sent.  By allowing your child to do this herself, you can help educate her on humanitarian projects all over the world.  In addition, children can also play interactive games on the Karito Kids website – points earned while playing the games can be converted to charity donations also!
