After months, maybe even years in a crib, suddenly, something usually occurs that results in your toddler’s eviction. Usually, it’s either the realization that your baby is now big and strong enough to jump out of the crib, or, in our case, it’s the birth of a sibling who now needs the crib.
Moving to a twin bed can be too big of a step for a little one. When my son took over the crib from my daughter, she would cry, hold the rail of the crib and yell “my cib, my cib”. So, what’s a mom to do? One recommendation is to buy a super-cool toddler bed – one that put the crib to shame!
My daughter is now sleeping in a Delta Canopy Bed, from Delta Children’s Products. We chose the Disney Princess theme, although Dora the Explorer and Cars are also available. This toddler bed, which requires assembly, is low to the ground, so your child can jump right in. The canopy, besides looking very cool, also provides a little bit of a cocoon effect which can make the move from a crib a little less scary.
My daughter LOVES this bed. It’s the centerpiece of her room now, and she says it’s “nice and cozy”. The Princess theme isn’t overwhelming, and looks adorable. It’s reasonably priced also, so it’s a great solution for parents who are looking for a transition from a crib to a twin bed.
