leapfrog Fun with Learning and Reading from TAG by LeapfrogI’ve always loved the educational and fun products by LeapFrog, starting with the LeapFrog Little Touch Learning System I registered for when I was pregnant. When I heard about the brand new TAG Reading System recently introduced by LeapFrog, I knew my daughter would love it! She is in preschool and loves sitting with books and reading.

If you haven’t heard, the TAG Reading System is a highly sensitive pen-shaped reader which, when pressed on the pages of a TAG Library book, actually reads the story aloud. It’s highly responsive, so kids can skip pages, switch out books, and even touch different parts of the page to really bring the tale to life.

Setting up the TAG is simple. The box includes a LeapFrog original story, Ozzie and Mack, and TAG works out of the box with that title. For other purchased titles, you must install LeapFrog Download Connect from the included CD, and sync downloaded titles to your TAG (via an included USB cable). Approximately 5 TAG titles will fit on the TAG, and switching them out is easy.

My daughter is completely facinated by TAG. While she started out just pressing the pages to read the story, she quickly moved to press it all over the page. With the separate book Tractor Tipping (Cars), she’s enjoyed pressing the TAG to Lightning McQueen and Mater to hear their “reactions” to the story. While she’s at the younger age of the TAG recommended age range, she has definitely been able to independently use and play with TAG.

Later this summer, the Learning Path will be available for TAG. By connecting TAG to their computer, parents will be able to see how their children have progressed with TAG – which games and activities they have played, and how those activities and games help to educate them. Visit http://www.leapfrog.com for more information, or to purchase a TAG.
