Snacking with Kelloggs

by Chris on July 29, 2008

I love snacking! It doesn’t matter if it’s a healthy snack of berries or yogurt or a bunch of Oreos and chocolate, I need something to get me through the afternoon. It always surprises me that my sons are not so excited by snacks. We’ve tried all sorts of things…whether it be fruit, crackers, cheese, or yogurt. It doesn’t seem to matter. As my mom would put it, they just aren’t ‘good eaters.’ I’m always hoping to have a great snack to offset those others meals that aren’t so great! It seems like getting the little guys to eat is all about being creative and inventive! Because of this, I’ve really enjoyed visiting the Snacktivate website created by Kellogg’s Nutrition.

The Snacktivate website offers a bunch of neat snack ideas using wholesome ingredients and some yummy Kellogg products. We really enjoyed the Sassy Sunpops made with crunchy peanut butter cookies using Frosted Mini-Wheats, one of my husband’s favorite cereals. The best part of the recipes from Snacktivate is that all of the recipes can be used with your childrens’ participation. You and your children can make a butterfly out of a quesadilla or a bunny out of cheese sticks. I also like that many of the snacks are perfect for themed parties as a edible favor or a dessert. You’ll also find some great resources on healthy eating for teachers.

In addition to introducing us to the Snacktivate website, Kellogg’s also generously sent two boxes of Frosted Mini-Wheats and a neat-o travel cup for cereal. if you’re interested in getting some great ideas for snack time, visit Snacktivate.
