Every mom that I know suffers from some level of sleep deprivation. The eight hours of sleep we were able to get so easily before kids is now disrupted with middle of the night wake ups and early morning wake ups, not to mention just a complete lack of time. Sleep, for most parents, is a luxury.
Catching up on sleep is essential, but doing it can be difficult. I have often resorted to weekend naps while my children nap, although there is definitely a downside to that. First of all, a long nap during the day usually leaves me groggy afterwards, and sometimes I have a hard time falling asleep at night. Also, I really could use the time while my kids nap to get things done!
So when I was contacted to try Nap 26, a CD that helps you get a 26 minute nap, I was totally on board with trying it! It works in either a portable CD player or an MP3 player (I’ve loaded mine onto my iPhone). You just have to press play, and lie down in a comfortable area. It works by inserting pulses and beats into your ears which either stimulates relaxation or alertness. The sound you will hear resemble waterfalls, rain, and white noise.
I tried Nap 26 both days this past week with great results. At first, I was a bit concerned because the CD is almost exactly 26 minutes, and I didn’t fall asleep right away. However, I still felt great when I woke up. I think the 26 minutes was a perfect amount of time to relax and recharge, and it was nice not to feel groggy or exhausted when I woke up.
