As a child, I always loved my summers. However, when the school year came around, I often found myself having to re-learn basic concepts. Studying intensively over the summer seems like a bit overkill just to keep skills fresh, but a new online tool by Scholastic is a great way to re-learn and reinforce your child’s school education.
StudyJams! by Scholastic features several cool and hip middle school “mentors” – Zoe (the musician), Sam (the artist), RJ (the sports fan), and Mia (the tech genius). Your child can watch 200 jams with songs, videos, skits, and tutorials, collect points for completing them, and then redeem the points for MP3s of original songs.
I particularly like the way StudyJams! provides narratives as a creative approach to learning. With the songs, colorful characters, and stories, it definitely makes learning fun! Check them out at http://www.scholastic.com/studyjams.
