Saving your Back with the Bathtub Assistant

by Chris on October 17, 2008

Before actually having children, I thought bath time would be all fun and no pain. I didn’t realize how much anxiety and care goes into washing an older infant or toddler, when they can just about sit up, but still don’t have the strength to keep from slipping. You’ve graduated from the baby tub into the big person tub. You find that you need both hands on the child, one hand to hold yourself upright, and one to scrub. The BathTub Assistant has come to the rescue. You’re not going to grow those extra arms but the BathTub Assistant will keep you upright and provide the support you need to concentrate on your baby. I remember slipping more than once while trying to wash a slippery baby and catching myself just before kissing the porcelain on the tub ledge.

The BathTub Assistant consists of a cushion pad for your knees, which attaches to a base that extends up to another cushion for your chest. The BathTub Assistant is free standing and does not require a tub to stand upright so it can be used with a shower stall, too. It’s adjustable for height so you can find the most comfortable position for you. Of course, you don’t have to use it on just bathing your baby, but using it when bathing your dog or washing clothes.

You can find the BathTub Assistant at http://www.bathtubassistant.com/.
