As an adult, I love veggies. As a child, not so much. It came upon me slowly…adding mushrooms to sandwiches (or as I’ll be saying for the next few weeks, grinders), onions to pizza, and peppers to casseroles. I definitely needed more persuasion as a child to enjoy my vegetables. Some were smothered in cheese and some were just the type that children usually enjoy without any inducement at all…tomatoes, carrots, and corn.
Now that I have my own little ones to feed, I’m always on the search on tips, hints, and tricks to get them to eat their vegetables. Hidden Valley has recently created a website with loads of recipes and activities to make veggies more fun for families. The Love Your Veggies site includes recipes from Art Smith. I can’t wait to try the Chinese Lettuce Wraps. Together with Smith, Hidden Valley is also hosting a contest for moms who are advocates and champions of vegetables. Visit here to check out all of the rules for the “Search for the Veggie Champions Contest.” The ten winners will be invited to a two-day retreat with Smith to learn all about growing and cooking vegetables.
Visit the Hidden Valley’s Love Your Veggies site soon for some helpful vegetable tips at http://www.loveyourveggies.com.
