Readers may know that I was a full-time work outside the home mom for many years, before recently switching to a very part-time job. Explaining about work was often difficult, and my daughter especially often didn’t understand why I was leaving (and still doesn’t, on the one day I do work in the city). A new original book, Mommy’s High Heel Shoes, is absolutely perfect for my daughter because it not only includes a great message about working moms, it’s also completely girl-friendly, with gorgeous illustrations.
Mommy’s High Heel Shoes is about a little cupcake-loving little girl who checks out her mom’s shoe closet when her mommy leaves for work. She wonders why mommy needs all of those shoes, and learns that her mommy has many jobs, but the most important is being a mommy.
The illustrations are beautiful and captivating, and hidden within each picture is a tiny heart, cupcake, and ladybug. My four-year old loves searching each picture for these hidden items, making the book so much more than just a story.
