I figured it out. It has taken some time and, for some of you, it may not be a real epiphany. For me, it was a bit of a realization of what I sometimes do and what I sometimes neglect. Here is the rule…don’t walk by it. Basically, if you see the mess, before, during or after it’s being made, you need to take responsibility for cleaning it up. Walking to your bedroom and see a toy on the floor, pick it up and plop it where it belongs. Heading to the kitchen and see some paper that needs to make it away to the office, take a detour. Here’s my favorite, see the roll of toilet paper slimming down, REPLACE IT.
It’s not a difficult step. It’s just that sometimes, we’re driven to do the things on our list, we pass by some of the little things that build up. It’s also easy to fall into the whole “It’s not my job” way of thinking. The best part of this rule…It’s contagious. It demonstrates to your family that you care how your home looks and it keeps the lazy bug at bay. You can even make it a game with bigger kids and everyone can see how many things they can pick/neaten up on their way to the next room. It’s simple, easy, and becomes routine in no time at all.
Now the question is: Will you replace that TP roll or leave it for the next person?

I shall always replace the roll & leave the seat down. Its the boys in my house that constantly need to be reminded:)
My family likes to get a new roll out and leave it on the bathroom counter. I think I am the only one out of a family of 6 that puts the roll on the dispenser.
