Have you ever had this experience? You finally get your beast of a stroller folded up and loaded into your trunk to go to the store and there is barely any room left for the milk and diapers you needed to pick up. For you city dwellers, small car drivers and minimalists who are short on space, but have plenty of room for style, consider the Micralite Toro. Distributed by Scandinavian Child, the Toro beautifully blends high-style fashion with simplicity and versatility. At only 19 lbs. the four-wheeled Toro offers effortless maneuvering, masterfully winding through maze-like retail stores, crowded street corners and bustling public transport with ease. Its front wheels can be locked forward for walks on the straightaway or allowed to swivel freely showing off its impressive steering. The seat adjusts easily between three positions––from full recline to upright (though note that while the entire seat does fully recline, the seat does not go flat meaning that the child’s rear is in a kind of pocket – a fact that did not seem to prevent napping in our testing). While the Toro is lightweight and space-friendly, its rugged, all-terrain wheels perform easily on a variety of city walkways. But perhaps my favorite features? The Toro opens and closes with one simple action and stands alone when folded, making it easy to store in small closets or tight trunks (39.5” x 14” x 17” when folded). These two features alone make it a worthy consideration for urban city dwellers and apartment-livers.
But being small and sleek does have its disadvantages. The back wheels have a measly 11 inch spread which means some will have to adjust their gait not to kick the back tires. There is no cup holder for parent or child (though there is a bumper bar) and the under stroller storage is small and a bit tricky to access. The easy-grip handle bar is comfortable and adjusts from 37-42 inches, but only with the included Allen wrench, not making it conducive to frequent switching for multiple handlers.
Available in four vivid, solid colors, the Toro does include an air pump, all-weather hood, foot muff and rain cover along with a number of other accessories sold separately including the Carrycot bassinet and car seat adaptors. If you are looking for a sleek, slim and stylish stroller to get you around the city without needing it’s own parking space, don’t take any more bull. Take Toro.
