10 Years of Magic and Wonder with Harry Potter & Giveaway

by Chris on August 25, 2009

Harry Potter andSorcerers Stone 10 Years of Magic and Wonder with Harry Potter & GiveawayI have been a fan of the Harry Potter books from early on in the series. With each release, I would find every bit of time I could to dedicate to the next installment of Harry’s life. It’s amazing how those books were able to take me away from whatever was happening in my life into the world of Hogwarts. I just can’t believe that it has been ten years since Harry entered my life. In those years, I graduated from college, grad school, married, had two sons and moved more than six times. Soon enough my husband and I will be reading the books to our sons and letting the stories pull them in.

This contest is now over. Congratulations to Joseph, Tamara B., Miranda Allen, Christina Sparks, and Benita G. We are so excited to offer our readers an opportunity to introduce their children into the world of Harry Potter with a set of the first three books in the series including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Please leave a comment below and we’ll enter you into the giveaway. We’ll be selecting five random winners. One entry per person. US Residents only. No PO Boxes please. Contest ends September 14, 2009 at 11:59 ET.

Here’s a bit more about the contest from our partner, Scholastic:

Share the Magic of Reading with Harry Potter! It’s been 10 years since Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone was first published and a whole new generation of children await the magic of Hogwarts, and Quidditch, of Sorting Hats and Spells. Introduce your “back-to-schooler” to the first three books in this remarkable series and get them started on the reading adventure of a lifetime just in time for school!

I missed out on the whole Harry Potter mania when it first came out and so did my daughter. She’s 13 now and neither of us have seen a movie or read one of the books. Everyone says we’re missing out. It’s time we joined in on the Potter parade and what better way to start then right at the beginning with the first 3 books.

I love Harry Potter and enjoy all the different stories that I and my children have followed these past few years. We have kinda grown up with Harry, Hermione, Ron and the other kids in the book and movies. It is nice to read about someone who has enjoyed the books as much as myself.

Thanks for the chance to win the set to correct this deficiency in my popular culture education. :) Then of course I can pass them on to my nephew, who hasn’t read them either (though he has a much better excuse – he only learned to read last year!).

Reply

61 Betty Curran September 14, 2009 at 4:28 am

I stubbornly held out because I truly thought the books would be more for children than for adults. Finally a co-worker brought in her copies and basically dared me to read the first one. I was hooked. I read the entire series in less than two weeks and the only reason it took me that long was because I still had other things I had to do (like work and cook dinner, oh and laundry occasionally).
I would love to have my own copies so I could read them again at my leisure.
