I was already a Nissan fan after we tried out the Nissan Altima Hybrid, so I was excited to try out another Nissan for our family road trip to the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, NY. It was a 5 1/2 hour drive – the perfect length to really learn about all of the car’s features and get a feel for how it drives.
Nissan supplied us with a brand new Nissan Maxima for our vacation. At first I was concerned that it was going to be a little small for our road trip. While I love small cars (my own car is a Toyota Matrix), I knew we’d need some trunk space for all the bags we brought with us. However, despite the small size of the Nissan Maxima, the trunk is actually much bigger than you’d expect! It easily fit out suitcases, tote bags, and pool toys!
The Nissan Maxima, like the Altima I reviewed last month, has some really wonderful features. Built-in GPS, satellite radio, a Bose sound system, back up camera, and heated seats are all options that I wish my car had. For a road trip they were just perfect! We had a great time playing with the satellite radio – especially with the 80s on 8 station. The build-in GPS is so easy to use, and the volume controls allowed us to set the sound so that we could hear the directions over the music.
With any road trip, I’m always concerned about gas mileage, and the Nissan Maxima didn’t disappoint. We made it the whole way to Lake Placid on less than a tank of gas, and only needed to fill up once on the whole trip. The kids were so sad that we had to actually return the car, and so was I!
I’m definitely planning to look at the Nissan Maxima when it’s time to purchase a new car – now that I’ve experienced all of those great features, I want to have them all the time!

Looks like a great family car. I especially would appreciate the built-in GPS.
My husband and I bought a brand new Nissan Sentra pre-kids and we absolutely loved that car. We put tons of miles on it in a busy metropolis and we never had any problems with it. When we had kids, we sold it and bought a bigger car to better accommodate car seats and baby gear. Sometimes, I still miss it…
P.S. If Nissan would like to provide me and my family with a car, minivan, or SUV to test drive for a week in Seattle, I’d love to write about it on my blog.

nissans cheap new cars for sale have been top of my list for sometime. I would recommend these cars to all of my friends and family. Obviously this car is a perfect match for a large family but i think people forget about the smooth drive and homely feeling that comes with it. I can not wait to see what else Nissan have to offer in the future.
