In July, before BlogHER, I attended a mom blogger event sponsored by PBS Kids, where we discussed my kids’ favorite TV show, SuperWHY. One of the things we talked about was some of the educational resources and lesson plans offered on the PBS Parents website.
I decided to test drive the 5-day activities for SuperWHY, offered on the website with my just turned 5-year old daughter. To start, we completed the pre-assessment to see where she was. Since she’d seen the episode before, it was probably not the most accurate pre-assessment, however. Then, we watched the “Three Little Pigs” episode (this is available for free on iTunes, or via the link above). My daughter loves that episode, so it was fun to watch again.
There are activities for 5 separate days, involving the different characters and skills. My daughter’s favorite was day 3, which features Princess Presto (her personal favorite). The optional masks were lots of fun, with all of the activities, especially this one. I found that my daughter preferred the activity worksheets – which is what I would expect given her interest in other activity books.
Want to win a SuperWHY DVD? Leave a comment below with your PBS Kids show! Winner will be chosen at random. Giveaway ends 9/20 at 11:59pm ET. US Residents Only.

We like Thomas the Train. And High 5.
There are so many wonderful PBS Kids programs available.
I love Between the Lions, Word World, Sid the Science Kid, and we just recently discovered Super WHY!
I don’t actually have any TV reception, so we only watch whatever I buy or whatever we get to see at Grandma’s house. (Much less hassle this way…)
I would absolutely love to get a Super WHY! DVD for my girls. They already beg to stay at Grandma’s for just a little longer when they realize it’s almost time for Super WHY to come on, and I don’t have any of those in my collection, yet.

When the kids were little, we loved Sesame Street and Big Big World. Now they’re older (7 and 4) and we love Dinosaur Train, Arthur, WordGirl, and Martha Speaks.
