Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps
Starts airing in September on PBS
This newly reinvented Angelina Ballerina episode features a more-grown up Angelina (she’s now eight) enrolled in a new performing arts school. She starts to learn new dance steps, makes more friends, and practices even more ballet.
The production of the series is very different from the original, and is now made with CG animation. My daughter, aged five, loves the few episodes we’d received in advance – she keeps watching them over and over again.
Barbie and the Three Musketeers
Available September 15th, Barbie and the Three Musketeers has a very different feel than other princess DVDs. In this DVD, Barbie and her friends go on an adventure to save the princess and join together to become the first girl musketeers. This is another hit with my daughter, who insisted on watching it multiple times. Purchase Barbie and the Three Musketeers at Amazon.com.
Olivia
Already available – Olivia, originally of the book series and now of the Nickelodeon series, now has her very own DVD. If you haven’t seen Olivia, it’s one of my daughter’s very favorite TV shows (because, honestly, I think my daughter is a bit like Olivia), and it’s really cute!
This DVD features four new to DVD episodes, including my personal favorite – Olivia Packs Up – when she attempts to run away after getting frustrated that she has to share with her little brother (or little bother, as she calls him). Purchase Olivia at Amazon.com.
Leapfrog: Let’s Go to School
Available now: we’d already reviewed some of Leapfrog’s other educational DVDs, so I was thrilled to have the chance to review this one. In this DVD, Tad and Lily visit their new classroom, and learn that the classroom (objects like the globe and clock) are more nervous than them. This is a great DVD for those kids who are about it, or have just started kindergarten. You can find it at Amazon.com.
Addition and Subtraction Rap
Now available: You may remember our review of the Multiplication Rap DVD from Rock n Learn – we’ve just had a chance to review another Rock n Learn DVD, the Additional and Subtraction Rap. This DVD is very similar to the Multiplication DVD, except it teaches addition and subtraction instead of multiplication. My kids love the fun characters! To purchase, visit Rock N Learn online.
