My kids are now home with me three days a week, and I’m always looking for preschool type activities to do with them. So, when I heard about the Young Scientist’s Club’s new science kits, I thought it would be perfect for us to try out.
The Young Scientist’s Club sent us the Going Green kit to try out. The kit includes a bunch of supplies for environmentally themed science experiments, and my kids loved them! We made pulp from newspapers and construction paper, then created new paper, and also experimented with shrinky dinks, composting, and evaporation!
I loved doing these experiments with the kids, and I tried to use each experiment as a way to teach science and environmental lessons. The paper recycling experiment especially resonated with them, because they know that we recycle our newspapers and junk paper every week. Now, they know what happens after the recycling truck takes the paper away.
