Most of you know that I’m a Reader, with a capital R. I love to read almost anything. It usually depends on my mood or current situation that has me reaching for a particular genre. (You can read more about what I usually like to read here.) One of my ‘go to’ genres is Young Adult Lit (YA). I love the pacing and the storytelling that authors use to draw young readers in to their worlds. Recently I was offered an opportunity to read the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy.
The plot revolves around Stephanie, a twelve-year-old girl. Upon the death of her uncle, she inherits his estate and his friend, Skulduggery Pleasant, a detective that just happens to be a skeleton. Of course, adventure ensues. The witty dialogue and Landy’s world building is great and definitely sure to capture any teen’s (or their mom and dad’s) attention. I love that it is a series that can be read by parents and their teen children all at the same time. Sharing books is one of the best ways to connect with each other and this series is perfectly crafted for sharing.
The Skulduggery Pleasant series consists of three books, so far, and builds upon the world and characters introduced in the first book. You can purchase all of the books at your local bookstore or online at Amazon.com.
*We received a copy of the series for this review.*

Wow, thank you for the review of these books! My daughter is such an avid reader, I have a difficult time keeping her library full, especially with material that is suitable for an 11-year-old. Love this blog! It’s like “Oprah’s favorite things” at my fingertips!
