As most readers know, I guess I’m a runner now…. I ran a 5K in September, a 10k in October, a 5 Miler on Thanksgiving, and will be running a half-marathon in March. I’m now exactly the most physically fit (I’m getting there though), and I need to train. When I do my long runs (5 miles or more), I run 10-15 minutes and walk a minute, so I need a programmable watch to help me keep track.
Timex offered to send me a runner’s watch, so I could test it out for review to see how it would work for me. I choose the Timex Ironman Fitness Tracker – a watch that comes with a wireless pedometer-type device for tracking steps. While I do run with the Nike Plus system, there are occasional failures where I like to have a backup, so this is just perfect.
The watch is easy to use, and works perfectly for my needs. I especially like the large numbers – very easy to see when I’m running and only have a second to glance down. I’m able to program it to beep after 10 minutes, then one, and repeat the whole cycle until I’m done.
The pedometer is extremely easy to set up also, and it is easily recognized by the watch. While I don’t need it for every run, it’s lightweight and easy to wear as a backup.
You can view and purchase the entire collection of Timex running watches on their Web site.
Disclosure: I received a Timex running watch at no cost.

Congrats to you! You are indeed a runner.
Best wishes with the 1/2 marathon. I may aspire to that one day as well…
