Let’s face it – other than avoiding the sun, no one has the holy grail for avoiding skin aging. While lots of experts and skin care lines offer numerous alternatives, it’s hard to know exactly what will work for you. I had the chance to review Glissandra, an anti-aging skin care line from Canada that offers a new alternative – the schisandra berry. The theory here is that mitochondria (a component in all skin cells) decay, causing some of the skin care aging we see.
Glissandra offers a three-part program to help combat aging – a serum, a moisturizer, and an eye-cream. All of them are rich and creamy, and are especially effective in cold, dry weather. I’ve used the entire line for a little over a month now (in combination with my prescription acne products), and have definitely found them to be moisturizing but not oily. The prescription products I use can be drying, so it’s nice to have a moisturizing cream to combat that effect. It’s hard to tell if they are halting aging, but my skin is definitely smooth after using the product.

Disclosure: I received a Glissandra three-step kit at no cost to facilitate my review.
