High Plains Bison – Healthier Than Beef

Screen shot 2010 08 11 at 8.22.00 PM High Plains Bison Healthier Than Beef I’ve been trying to decrease my carb intake while increasing my protein intake, without raising my cholesterol, which is already high.  I didn’t realize until recently that bison (often mistaken for buffalo) is lower in fat and cholesterol than beef (and other proteins also).

We received a cooler full of bison products from High Plains Bison, and at first, I really wondered if the taste would be nearly as good as beef.  We started out with the bison hotdogs, and even my super-picky kids loved them.  Then, we had the steaks, and they were equally as wonderful.  The taste is a bit stronger, and it has to be cooked a bit differently (less heat, for a shorter period of time) than beef, but it’s really delicious!

We found the products to be so flavorful that we barely needed to add any seasoning, and it was still really good.  To learn more about High Plains Bison, visit their website.

Disclosure: I received a cooler full of High Plains Bison products at no cost.
