While some moms feel sad when their youngest goes off to kindergarten, I was thrilled to have finally have some freedom during the day. My son was happy to go too, especially since his big sister had gone off a year before him. I volunteer in both classrooms and am very involved in their daily school life, and I’m very happy with how things have progressed this year.
Until earlier this week when I went to “our” Starbucks. You see, last year, twice a week, there was a half hour gap between when I dropped off my daughter at school and when I needed to drop by son off to pre-K. So, we’d stop in at Starbucks and have a little lunch date – just the two of us. When I went to our Starbucks, I realized that I miss those little morning breakfasts with him. I never get to spend alone time with him anymore.
While I’m still happy he’s off in kindergarten, I think I’m going to have to carve out some separate time for just the two of us. Because these years are just going by so fast.

Jodi, I believe it! I’m torn about next year too as C will be full day Kindergarten. I’m excited but at the same time dreading it – I know I’m going to miss having him around during the day so much too!
Funny, this week I’m just missing my kidlets. Nine times out of ten I’m ok with our evenings & weekends together. Today I’m craving sweet little soft skin and hearing a tine voice tell me she loves me “to pieces.”
