Last year, as an Aveeno ambassador, I had the opportunity to attend the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, stay at the amazing Shutters on the Beach Hotel, and have a full spa day with Aveeno products. My pre-Accutane skin was seriously flaring that weekend. Despite my emergency dermatology appointment to have three of my breakouts “stabbed” with cortisone, my face still looked awful because three more breakouts popped up. I loved the Aveeno Active Naturals Smart Essentials products that they gave us that weekend, but the products were just too harsh for me back then.
Fast forward a year later, when I was on Accutane, and again, my skin was super sensitive and needed fragrance-free products. But I’m now off Accutane, have clear skin, and am completely ready to give Aveeno Active Naturals Smart Essentials products a full review.
I received the full line – the Daily Nourishing Moisturizer with SPF 30, the Nighttime Moisture Infusion, the Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment, the Pore Purifying Facial Wash, and the Daily Detoxifying Scrub, and have been using everything along with my prescription Retin-A Micro. The smell of the products is amazing – it’s a fresh, clean smell and is also invigorating.
I start my daily routine with the Daily Detoxifying Scrub (in the shower), followed by the Pore Purifying Facial Wash. The Daily Moisturizer is lightweight, and since it includes a great SPF number, I’m able to use it daily (I generally use a Bare Essentials powder with SPF throughout the day on top of the moisturizer since SPF fades quickly). I use the Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment twice per day – it’s my favorite product of the line and goes a long way in waking my eyes up. Finally, I use the Nighttime Moisture Infusion daily mixed with my Retin-A. My skin is soft, yet not oily at all. Now that my skin is stabilized, I’m happy I can use this line regularly.
