Informative, Fun Book About Going Green
I recently received a copy of Christie Matheson’s book Green Chic and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in becoming more environmentally friendly. Christie’s writing style is light and very personal, and doesn’t at all come across as preachy or all-knowing as some books on this topic tend to. However, despite the lightness, she does her research and explains important environmental concerns. I learned a whole bunch of things I didn’t know, and am inspired to make a few changes in my life (starting with cleaning my closet - Christie has some great advice in that area). You’ll find that the majority of her suggestions are completely doable, as they involve small changes that add up. You can find Green Chic at Amazon.com. Keep Your Little One’s Legs Warm
In order to prevent the inevitable meltdowns that occur when I insist upon sweatpants or other warm items, I always look for a compromise - something that will allow her to wear what she wants but still stay nice and appropriately warm. The new leg warmers from Melontree satisfy both her inner fashionista and my mommy common sense. Melontree has a selection of leg warmers that are sure to interest any little girl (or boy). My daughter loves the Mia Stripe which match almost everything. For large groups, such as gymnastics or dance teams, Melontree can make a custom design (for orders over 100 items). Wonderful New Products from Alex Casey Baby
Finding the perfect gift is easy - Alex Casey Baby is organized in specific categories such as Bathe Me, Dress Me Up, Feed Me, and the newest category Sibs & Moms. I was especially interested in this category as finding sibling gifts can also be a challenge. The item that caught our eyes for review is the Crayon Caddy which can be personalized with the child’s name. My preschool aged daughter is very interested in drawing and coloring, and at this stage, any gift which involves crayons or stickers is a great bet. The Crayon Caddy is beautiful, and is large enough to hold a variety of markers and crayons - fill it up for a perfect gift for a preschooler! Check out the entire selection of beautiful baby gifts at http://www.alexcaseybaby.com. Use the coupon code favorite2 for 15% off through 5/30. Learn More About Natural Personal Care ProductsI’m currently reading the book Green Chic for an upcoming review, and the chapter about personal care products really enlightened me to want to try more environmentally friendly and healthy products. But, while my local Whole Foods does have a huge section of natural personal care products, navigating through all of those new brands and ingredients is a bit intimidating. I was recently introduced to the relatively new podcast series on Wholefoods.com, called “Be Good to Your Whole Body“. On the website, there are a variety of video clips pertaining to topics such as “how to build the perfect spa basket”, “natural facial care for your skin type”, and “the best there is in body care”. The videos are short and informative, and will leave you with enough information to navigate through the personal care aisle like an expert. Sun Protection for Your Precious Babies
Baby Blanket offers a variety of different products that are very likely to meet your needs. My son uses the Titanium Dioxide SPF 50 lotion, which offers a good amount of protection for the times that he is in the direct sun. I also like the pump spray formulas, which are much easier to apply on a squirmy toddler. For pool or beach time, I also like the zinc oxide sunscreen sticks - perfect for ears, nose, and cheeks. The stick is SPF 45 and water resistant, so it’s great for a little one that loves the water. My son has very thin hair, so my favorite product for him is the Tender Scalps sunscreen. It’s an alcohol free spray, and has an SPF of 45, so it protects his head (I do try to keep a hat on him, but he thinks it’s a game to see how fast he can remove it). Baby Blanket Suncare products are available at Babies R Us, or online at http://www.drugstore.com. Category: General Comments are off for this post | permalink Posted: May 14, 2008

Music for Baby’s Bedtime or Mama’s Meditation
The piano calls to you and you’ll find yourself staring off into space, just enjoying the music. I know many of us don’t have the time to sit and relax but, it’s always rewarding to take a few minutes to regain your center. Dream the Ocean Blue makes it easy to drift off…I just make sure to set a timer. You can find Dream the Ocean Blue here or at http://cdbaby.com/cd/yeungj, with some short clips to preview. Easy, Quick Meals with RaguI’m not a gourmet and for the most part, I don’t enjoy cooking. I want to. I really, really want to be a good cook. I want to make meals that are tasty, healthy, and that are enjoyed by my family. I’ve been trying hard and I’m glad to say that every month I get a little better. It’s the days that are totally overwhelming….where I can barely get my shower in, do my work, and keep the house from falling down around me…that totally bring me down. I don’t want to pop in a frozen pizza or call out for takeout, I want to have quicky, easy, and simple meals on hand to serve up. It was with great delight that I recently found out about Ragu Fresh & Simple Packets. Ragu Fresh & Simple Packets are microwaveable pouches with pasta sauce inside. Just nuke one for 90 seconds and save yourself from cleaning one extra pot. I love that the sauce has no artificial additives or preservatives along with no added sugar. Super simple but hearty, it’s a great way to make a quick and satisfying meal for your family. We love the “Tomato, Onion, & Garlic” variety but there are also “Traditional Tomato Basil” and “Garden Vegetable.” I especially like the pouches for lunches with my son. You can find Ragu Fresh & Simple Packets at your local grocery store in the pasta sauce aisle. If you’re interested in recipes or meal planning tips, visit http://www.feedourkidswell.com. They feature flexible elastics and easy pull tabs to help you get them on your child’s feet. My son wears the brown pair, and they look absolutely adorable on his feet, are easy to put on, and actually stay on (quite a feat, with him). The whole collection is available at http://www.robeez.com. Category: Baby Gear Comments are off for this post | permalink Posted: May 11, 2008

It seems everywhere you turn recently, there is more news about environmental concerns, issues with chemicals in products, and the need to recycle more. It can be difficult to actually process all of the information to come up with ways that you can be more “green”, especially if you want to retain your personal sense of style.
My daughter is completely obsessed with wearing clothes that are not weather appropriate. Recently, she’s wanted to wear skirts on days that are chilly and windy.
You may remember our
As the weather gets warmer and the sun gets stronger, you may be looking to purchase some sunscreen for your little one. This spring, my kids have been using several products from Baby Blanket Suncare.
We love taking family vacations, and now that my kids are both out of the infant stage, it’s definitely easier to travel. However, toddlers and preschoolers bring with them a new challenge in traveling - the fear of new and strange locations.
For both of my sons, we love to play calming music for bedtime. I like that it both helps them to ease into sleep and as a cue for them to know that we’re no longer jumping on the bed but lying down. For us, it was especially important as we travel often and it helped to make any bed their bed. I’m always looking for music to add into our music library for this very reason. Something that is soft, calming, and relaxing. Jennifer Yeung’s Dream the Ocean Blue is all of that and more. It’s so comforting and enjoyable…that I find myself taking it from my son’s and using it during the day while I work to ease my own stress level.
Robeez can’t be beat as a high quality soft soled shoe. Now, for those special occasions where your little one needs a little flair or classic style to enhance his wardrobe, Robeez has introduced the new Weekend Collection.
