Remember back in February, when I had a blogging identity crisis? Well, I’m having another one.
It all started a few weeks ago when Parenting Magazine put out a list of the top 50 mom blogs. I knew my blog wasn’t on it, because I knew my blog wasn’t one of the top 50. And that’s just sad. I should always feel that I’m putting out my A game.
I’ve spread myself thin with blogging – with Family-Friendly Boston, Mom’s Favorite Stuff, Multitasking Mommy, and the Full Piggy. I’m not bringing my A-game to my main blog – Mom’s Favorite Stuff. I’m spending my time, and my energy on client proposals, consulting, ambassadorships, videos, and freelance writing, but not taking care of my original blog.
So what am I going to do? Well, I’m not sure yet. I haven’t written on the Full Piggy in a while, and probably won’t be. I thought about combining Multitasking Mommy with Mom’s Favorite Stuff, but I’m not sure on that yet. I’m having the logos redone, because I need a change. And, I’m going to be working on making Mom’s Favorite Stuff even better!
Any advice? I’d love to hear it!

Maybe you’ve been growing in a different direction and are worried about it “fitting” on your blog? If that’s the case, remember that we come here to read what YOU write. Write about what excites you and energizes you! {and Mom’s Favorite Stuff totally fits with Multitasking Mommy, it’s one of our many tasks to find the good stuff!} Is it too nauseating to say “follow your heart”?
I know the feeling. I have been feeling the same way lately. Though not as many places as you but a few. It did take me a little to figure it all out but I do feel now that I am on the right track. Now just to put it all in place! I think it just takes some super thinking and a lot of emphasis on what YOU really want out of it all. Good luck
You know, I never committed to a particular “theme” on my blog and I’m always glad for that. I think I get fewer advertisers, maybe generate less traffic as a result, but I never feel pressed or stressed about it. I love that I can write a review of the hottest product or just spew my thoughts on any given day, without having to fit into any special box.
Maybe combining your two blogs is the answer you’re looking for.
I completely understand. Now that Deep South Moms is no longer in existence I am now “just” writing at BlondeMomBlog, my first blog “baby” and mommy blog and SavvyHousewife. I try to build BlondeMomBlog as my main brand since it receives the most traffic without diluting SavvyHousewife.
It’s tough, but I think from time to time we just need to reassess our time commitments and online presence and focus on the primary goals first!
Good luck Jodi! I know I struggle with this myself, and I’m sure many bloggers who have been at it a while do, too.
p.s. see you soon!
