After the Newborn Stage

January 15th, 2007

Most of the baby products that you register for are great for newborns and infants, and will be invaluable for those first few months.  Then, there comes a time when your baby is more interactive, more interested in playing, starting to sit up, and no longer happy lying down.  However, if he can’t sit up completely on his own, you will want at least one new baby product to get through this stage.

My favorite is the Bumbo seat.  The Bumbo Seat is much a unique product, and perfect from when your child first starts sitting up to about 12 months old.  It is made without straps or restraints, and is made from a foam material that is lightweight and still very sturdy.  The seat is deep enough so that the baby won’t tip over, and the ends are high for protection.  The baby’s own weight keeps him secure in the seat.

We used our Bumbo seat to feed our baby, to sit our baby down securely, and to play.  He can lean over and play with toys while sitting in the Bumbo, even though he can’t sit on his own!  We have also brought our Bumbo seat to Grandma’s so our baby could sit securely there also.  It’s definitely lightweight enough for travel!

Bumbo seats can be purchased at http://www.bumboseat.com/.  They offer a 30 day guarantee and free shipping for purchases over $75, or they can also be purchased at Amazon.com.
