For a One Day Theme Park Experience

January 24th, 2007

Unfortunately, we don’t live anywhere near any of the fun theme parks in Florida or California.  To take our kids to those parks would be a huge process, involving airplanes, rental cars, and hotels, which we’re just not ready for.  But, sometimes, we are looking for an afternoon away, with the kids!  On those days, we go to the chain restaurant, The Rainforest CafeThe Rainforest Cafe really does feel like a theme park ride, with huge fish tanks, animatronic rainforest animals, and a waterfall.

We like to go for an early lunch, as it does get pretty crowded with other families (especially on rainy days!).  If you arrive early, you can request a seat near a fish tank or a waterfall.  Just be aware that a few times an hour there is a very loud “thunderstorm” that can be very scary for young children.

Of course, despite the theme park feel, The Rainforest Cafe is a restaurant.  The food is actually pretty good, although it is definitely chain restaurant food.  They do have a huge menu, with plenty of options for children and adults.  You can also purchase a beverage in a flashy light up cup, which the kids love!

You can search online to find a location near you at http://www.rainforestcafe.com/.
