Lately, I’ve become interested in learning how to become a little more “green.” It’s becoming more and more important that we consider how what we do now affects the world our children will inherit. I thought I’d share some of the information I’ve found during my research. If you have an opportunity, definitely take a look at Time Magazine’s 51 Things We Can do to Save the Environment. It really does have a lot of great information on the condition of our environment and what we can do to help.
I’ve also begun looking into some “do-it-yourself cleaners.” Earth Share has some great recipes and tips on other things you can do to help the environment. The site even offers recommendations on bug repellant for pets. To learn more about your own impact on the environment, visit the Earth Day Footprint Quiz. I think you’ll be surprised by your “ecological footprint” as much as I was. I also found this neat quiz you can take with older children. On this site, you will find some other activities you can do with your kids to teach them about being kind to the Earth. I also thought the US government’s Earth Day site had a link to even more interesting sites. There’s a lot of great information out there, now we need to figure out how to integrate it into our everyday lives.
If you have any other ideas on how to become “green” and help the environment, please be sure to visit our forums and fill us in.
