Transfer Your Files and Photos from One Computer to Another

April 24th, 2007

As a mom, I have many, many digital photos sitting on my computer.  However, my personal computer was pretty old, slow, and desperately in need of an upgrade.  Purchasing a new computer wasn’t the problem, it was moving all of my files, especially those precious photos, to the new PC.  I wanted to be able to move them quickly and easily.

I recently learned about The Tornado, which was named the last gadget standing at the annual Consumer Electronics Show.  The Tornado works effortlessly - it’s a relatively small device with a retractable USB cord on each side (very similar to a tape measure, but with two retractable cords).  You can just plug each cord into each of your computers and after a short time, the software on the device will load.  Once it’s loaded, you will see a double window on each computer showing the contents of the hard drives.  In many cases, you can easily drag and drop the files from one PC to the other.  I was very easily able to copy over all of my necessary files to my new computer, and it was much, much easier than I would have ever expected!  The Tornado is also compatible with Vista which is essential if you are buying a new PC.
