2008 Resolutions

January 1st, 2008

If you are like most other moms, you take care of yourself last - after the family, house, pets, etc.  This year, celebrate yourself by making and sticking to some New Year’s Resolutions that will keep you happier and healthier.  We’ve put together a few great resolutions, with some product suggestions that will help you stay on track!

Resolution #1: Start and Maintain a Fitness Plan

After we carry our babies for 9 months, we need to get ourselves back in shape, and often don’t have the time.  I know personally, I find starting a fitness plan a daunting task, and therefore back burner it.  But, it’s so important - it will keep you healthier, stronger, and happier.

After having your baby, check out Helene Byrne’s Befit Mom Fitness (we have several reviews of BeFit).  After having my second child, I found Helene’s style to be especially helpful and useful in understanding how to get my body back in shape.

My favorite fitness program is from Teresa Tapp.  Teresa’s program, called T-Tapp, is not targeted just towards post partem moms, but it really has worked for me.  The basic workout is only 15 minutes, is done with no equipment and can be done in a very small area.  So, you can workout while your child is sleeping, without worrying about loud equipment or having to set up anything.  I would recommend buying Teresa’s book Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes first, as it includes a bonus DVD with a few abdominal exercises AND a 30% off coupon to her store (the only place you can buy the DVDs).  In addition to exercise DVDs, Teresa’s store also sells a Skin Tightening System which utilizes a method called Body Brushing - and what mom can’t use a little skin tightening??

Once you get fit, you’ll want to check out some of the cool fitness skirts from SkirtSports (http://www.skirtsports.com/).  We will be reviewing SkirtSports next month.

Resolution #2: Get Organized

Most moms seem to be the calendar coordinator for their household.  To help get organized, purchase a BusyBodyBook (we posted a review of the BusyBodyBook back in July).  With amble room for each family member’s schedule, it is perfect for a mom!

Resolution #3: Healthy Eating

Healthy eating is so difficult when you are on the go, and focused on caring for little ones.  For many moms, the hardest part is just coming up with ideas on what to cook.  We were thrilled to find out that Modern Menus (http://www.modernmenus.com/) is now offering its healthy meal planning service for free.  Their menus are reviewed by a nutritionist, so they are balanced and healthy, and don’t take too much time to prepare.
