Tools to Teach Good Money Habits to Preschoolers

February 18th, 2008

I have always been a strong advocate of teaching young children good money habits.  I really feel that it is one of the best gifts a parent can give a child - to help prepare them for the real world.  Therefore, I was very excited to test out the new Tessy and Tab Preschool Money Manager Toolkit with my preschool aged daughter.  If you’ve already read our review of the Tessy & Tab reading club you know this is a company we’ve had wonderful experience with.

After the holidays, my husband and I really wanted to help teach our daughter about the concept and value of money - how it’s earned and how it is not limitless.  The Preschool Money Manager Toolkit really helped!  The toolkit contains a 3 part bank (for giving, spending, and saving), two Tessy & Tab books (Yard Sale and Save, Spend, and Share), allowance chart and tools, and a parents guide.

My favorite parts of the toolkit are the parents’ guide and the allowance tools.  I didn’t know where to start with an allowance, and so the tools really helped me figure out little “jobs” and rewards.   The guide is extremely helpful in assisting with your plan - it provides ideas, motivation, and suggestions for using the toolkit.

To a preschooler, the job charts look like such fun - my daughter didn’t even realize that it was “work”.  The Tessy & Tab Preschool Money Manager Toolkit really helped us establish a good program for teaching my daughter money basics.  You can buy your own toolkit online at http://www.tessyandtab.com/.
