Do you have a picky little eater? Most moms of toddlers and preschoolers struggle for some period of time with picky eating - when your toddler suddenly declares vegetables, meats, and other healthy food “yucky”. While I understand that picky eating is common and should be expected, it still results in a great deal of mommy guilt and stress when I realize my daughter has eaten only bread and milk for a 24 hour period!
I recently heard about the Play with Your Food Kit by Daydream Toy, and I couldn’t wait to try it. The Play with Your Food Kit comes with a melamine plate (with 4 separate compartments) and mug, and a laminated spinner. To play the game, you place different food types in each of the compartments, and then direct your little one to spin the spinner. They then eat a bite of whatever food is in the compartment that is chosen!
My daughter loved the idea of this game. For us, the key to getting it to work is to offer a variety of foods - including a little treat in the smallest compartment. I think requiring only a bite is essential - she’s willing to try a food but not so willing to commit to eating the whole thing.
The transportation and animal themes are both gender neutral and fun for kids. The plates are sturdy, and are dishwasher (but not microwave) safe. You can purchase either set at http://www.daydreamtoy.com.
