I received many baby towels at my baby shower, but using them was so tricky.  Holding the towel effectively requires two hands, leaving none to actually lift the baby.  As a result, in my household, we usually resort to mom and dad supervised baths - not so hard for pre-planned baths but impossible for impromptu, vomit or spitup induced baths.
