The As I Grow series from Egghead Learning Systems is a unique group of DVDs created by a pediatrician to help support your child’s development. The series consists of 6 DVDs, with each one targeting a different age range, starting at birth and going up to 18 months. The up to 3 mos. DVD includes soft, feathery light music and simple designs and patterns that allow baby to process sensory information without getting overwhelmed. Each age range adds on more complex music, shapes, and patterns until you reach the final DVD with a more complete story revolving around farm animals.

I’ve found the DVDs to be very soothing and enjoyable. Actually, I’ve found myself slowing sinking into staring at the shapes, like watching squares slowly form into a checkerboard or watching the fish underwater. It was relaxing to sit besides my youngest son and I enjoyed watching him see and decipher each new graphic and sound. It’s definitely a great way to provide a little stimulation without the overwhelming, loud, or shocking effect that many DVDs have.
