Celebrating With Disney Social Media Moms

View from Disney's Yacht Club ResortLast weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, a part-conference, part-family vacation experience that the whole family can enjoy.   Last year when I attended, I went without my family, and I missed them so much that I just had to bring them along this time.

Since we’d just come back from our Phoenix family vacation a few weeks ago, we only extended our stay for a day.   We also decided to keep the trip a complete secret from the kids, and made the grand reveal in the parking garage at Logan Airport (click the link for the video).   That alone was worth the work it took to keep things quiet – so precious!!

As usual, Disney did so much to keep the entire celebration magical – from hosting great parties (including a beach-front pirate party, an after-hours Animal Kingdom party, and a party at the new Art of Animation Resort).   But more importantly, the conference itself was inspiring, featuring speakers such as Peter Shankman, Ramon DeLeon, and Chris Brogan, and hosted by comedienne MaryEllen Hooper.   I was inspired to explore more mobile options for my sites (although my numbers aren’t nearly as mobile-heavy as Chris shared, I know things are headed that way), to stop fear from getting in my way, and to just do better.   Ramon was particularly inspiring – if you haven’t seen this man speak, you absolutely have to!

The best part of the long weekend was introducing my family to the world inside my computer – my social media world.   It was amazing to have my friends meet my family, and to see my kids interacting with their kids.   The whole weekend was a fabulous experience, and the memories will last a lifetime.

Disclosure: I am not a Disney employee. The postings here are my own and do not represent the positions or opinions of the Disney Company.   As an attendee of the Disney Social Media Moms conference, I received discounts and perks.
