When I first started my family, I was so looking forward to creating my own family traditions. As a child, we spent Thanksgiving with my grandmother, Christmas Eve at a big party at home, and Christmas Day in my pjs. I especially loved the Christmas Eve party, and wanted to create my own traditions with my kids. My parents still host the party, but the other traditions have faded away.
Over the past few years, we’ve started traveling over Thanksgiving. Our extended family lives nearby, so it’s easy to see them on a regular basis. So, having Thanksgiving together isn’t essential. My kids and husband get a few days off for the holiday, so that makes it a great time to travel. This year, we decided to travel to Nashville, Tennessee – a city that we’ve always wanted to visit. With busy schedules, our family vacations give us the opportunity to spend time together, with no distractions.
When we are on our Thanksgiving vacation, we always like to take our family picture for our Christmas card. The resorts we visit are typically already decorated for the holidays, creating a fun, unique backdrop. We take several photos near various decorations and settings, and then decide on the one we like best. This year, as soon as we saw that beautiful red tree (pictured above), I knew that was the perfect setting. We took a few pictures, and I chose this one to be on our card.
CVS Photo offers a variety of different fantastic photo gifts to help bring the holidays to life. We’ll be creating a photo book with travel memories from the year (they are also a great gift). There are also holiday cards, canvas prints, calendars, photo pillows, and blankets, and so much more. You can learn more and see everything at www.cvs.com/photo.
