Have you heard of “vampire” or standby power? When you keep items plugged in, they often consume power, even if they are turned off. Bits Limited sent me an Energy Saving Smart Strip Surge Protector that helps eliminate vampire power. It’s easy to use – simply plug in your control item into the main outlet. For instance, you could plug your computer into that control. Then, you can plug the various accessories into the green outlets, which are activated when the item plugged into the control outlet is on. Finally, the red outlets are always “hot”, for items that need to stay on. It’s an easy way to save energy (and money!) without plugging and unplugging devices constantly.
