Whenever I tell anyone that I’m from Tiverton, Rhode Island, if they are at all familiar with it, they’ll ask me about Gray’s Ice Cream. Gray’s, which makes their own ice cream right on the premises, is an institution in Rhode Island – one I try to visit every time I go to my hometown.
Today, on this “last official weekend of summer”, Dan and I left the kids with my parents and headed down for a last ice cream of summer. Despite the fact that they have over 30 flavors, I can’t seem to get anything other than my favorite – blueberry.
To say this ice cream is amazing is understating it. The flavors are outstanding – strong but not too sweet. I’ve had ice cream in lots of places, but nothing is as good as Gray’s.

Ah yes, Gray’s Ice Cream – a Tiverton institution. We’ve now started going to Star Drive In in Taunton, MA on Sunday nights for an ice cream dessert – not far from the house, but a far cry from Gray’s!
