Since I’ve become a mom, I’ve definitely missed out on a few things – going out to the movies, and hanging out with good friends (without kids) being two of the big ones. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to host a pre-release DVD party for the movie Bridesmaids, and it was some of the best fun I’ve had in a while. I invited a few local friends to hang out, eat some snacks, and watch the movie.
To prepare, I blew up the balloons, decorated with some fun streamers, and put together a delicious sangria (recipe provided by Yellowtail), and spa water (cucumber infused water) for those who didn’t want to drink. I ordered some delicious Chinese food take-out, and we were ready for the party.
The movie – if you haven’t seen it – is hilarious. It really is something you should see with a group of friends – we just couldn’t stop talking about how funny it was through the entire movie. Kristen Wiig is pure perfection in the role of a maid of honor whose life is hitting a rough patch, and Melissa McCarthy deserves every accolade she’s received for her role as the sister of the groom. You can tell these ladies had fun making this movie, and I just love seeing a movie with an almost all female cast succeed.
Bridesmaid is being released on DVD, BluRay, and BluRay combo pack tomorrow!
Disclosure: I received the DVD and a party kit at no cost to host the party.
