To sign up to be a maven, you first fill out a brief survey that helps determine your beauty style. Then, you pay to receive your intro box, which includes nail colors based on your beauty style. You can always change the style you’ve given if you prefer. Each month, you receive a list of what’s included in the month’s box. If you like it, you do nothing and the box is shipped to you. Otherwise, you can easily skip the delivery, change which box you receive, or gift it to a friend. You can also add any of the other colors featured for the month for a super-low price. It’s a great way to get lots of fun colors each month, and the boxes are only $19.95, plus free shipping. The boxes often include seasonal and designer colors, so you are always getting something that’s cutting edge and fashionable.
Mavens who purchase that month’s box also have the opportunity to shop a secret sale for a few days per month. The secret sale often includes some seasonal colors, as well as basics like nail polish removal (Julep’s is the best I’ve ever used), nail files, and cuticle oil.
