Home Safety Audit With Kidde

I consider my home pretty safe.   I grew up with an electrician father who always taught us how to keep our home safe, and since our home was recently renovated, we have all new wiring and GFIs throughout our home.   But then, a few days ago, after returning from a friend’s summer BBQ, I came home with smoke billowing from our backyard.   As I entered the home, my husband cried out for our fire extinguisher – which I couldn’t find immediately.   Thankfully, we found it quickly, and the grease fire in our grill was extinguished.   I learned that I’d need to do a full check of our home to make sure we were completely safe.

Kidde, a maker of carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, is offering a home audit survey that takes about 15 minutes.   I went through the whole survey and found several things that needed to be updated in my house.   I definitely need more fire extinguishers (especially since we used ours), and also need to put together a family plan.   I’d also like to purchase rope ladders for our bedrooms.

If you’d like to do the home audit, you can find it here.

Disclosure: Kidde is providing me with a gift card so I can purchase some of the items I need.
