If you like your little one decked out in frilly frocks and bright primary color ensembles, then this clothing line is not for you. But if you are like me and crave infantwear that is simple, classic and available in gorgeous heathered tones, then you’ll be thrilled to learn about L’ovedbaby. I originally saw their Cotton Basics Collection while visiting a tradeshow in Vegas this past fall, and fell in love with their simple designs and warm, muted solid colors—so rare in infantwear. No barnyard animal appliqués, no explosion of Easter-egg colors—just clean lines, soft fabrics and colors that make me wish their styles came in adult sizes too.

L’ovedbaby is the brainchild of owner and designer Sharon Oved who launched the company in 2004 with the company’s inaugural product—the 4-in-1 Nursing Shawl. The Cotton Basics line was introduced two years later, and overwhelming retailer and customer support has led to the expansion of the line’s styles, colors and sizes. L’ovedbaby is set to grow again in early 2008 with the addition of some new pieces and colors to their collection (be sure to check back to their website in Jan/Feb for the big reveal!)

While the line may be called Cotton Basics, the collection offers a wide range of options. There are 10 different styles to choose from (including bodysuits, overalls, pants, shirts and gowns), each available in 7 rhyming colors (like Grand Sand, Think Pink and Keen Green) and 5 sizes (from Preemie to 12M). The styles and colors mix-and-match together easily to make dressing your babe from birth through their first year a breeze. And as someone who didn’t find out the sex of baby #1 or #2, I am also a huge fan of the range of gender-neutral color options. For traditionalists, the line still offers Think Pink and True Blue, but L’ovedbaby styles are also available in neutral shades of green, caramel, brown, sand and white. Goodbye pastel yellow – hello Out-On-The-Town-Brown!
