Pacifiers. Binkies. Nuks. Or as they were called in our house, Mr. Suckie. Anyone with a child addicted to the pacifier knows the sweet moments of peace they can bring and the ear-piercing screamfest that can occur when they are dropped, removed or lost. Enter Binky Buddy. This small, soft rectangle attaches to a pacifier to keep it from falling out of reach from the baby and can be swaddled with your child while they sleep or tucked into the car seat or stroller harness. The Binky Buddy keeps the pacifier within close enough proximity that the baby can retrieve it without help from you! No more middle-of-the-night pacifier retrievals. No more reaching over the car seat trying to locate the lost paci.
Matt and Kelly Whitehead developed the Binky Buddy for their daughter Samantha who had difficulty sleeping through the night without a pacifier. (With a newborn in the house, I appreciate how valuable getting a good night’s sleep is!) Kelly’s mom, who worked in a neonatal nursery, told the Whiteheads how the nurses would loop a towel through the pacifier ring in order to keep the pacifier within easy reach of the newborns. Matt Whitehead created a prototype device based on this concept, and soon the Binky Buddy was born!
Do keep in mind that the device only works with pacifiers that have a ring which is used to attach the pacifier to the Binky Buddy. I’m looking forward to my newborn moving off the ring-less hospital pacifier and onto one I can use with the Binky Buddy. Get your own at www.binkybuddyusa.com.
