I am a huge fan of James Patterson. I’ve read most of his books, ranging from the Alex Cross series to the Women’s Mystery Club books to "Miracle on the 17th Green." I love his ‘voice,’ the pace of his books, and the tone. His characters are very believable and you get sucked in, needing to know what their fate is. This has made me, a mother of two boys, very excited to see a new series developed by James Patterson with boys in mind.
My greatest love outside of my family is reading and I believe I’ve married a man with the same draw to books. I hope that our love of reading inspires the same love in our sons, but unfortunately, many studies show that boys just aren’t reading in the same numbers as girls. I believe that the Daniel X series will be one that has many pre-teen and teenage boys reading again. As an adult I found it intriguing, with the same pace and character development Patterson and his co-writer, Michael Ledwidge, are known for.
The Dangerous Days of Daniel X follows the beginning of Daniel’s epic journey as an alien hunter. After losing his parents, he takes over the family business, protecting the Earth and humans from the aliens that threaten their safety. It’s a little Men in Black, a bit of the Maximum Ride series, and with imagery so strong, it is a comic book without the pictures. Film rights for the book have already been settled upon so we may just be seeing Daniel X on the big screen soon.
