Soon I’ll be visiting family and, for part of the time, I’ll be without my computer connection. I know exactly how I’ll feel…uncomfortable, like I’m forgetting something, and I’ll keep thinking that I should check email, our bank account, or even the latest news. It just goes to show how integral to our lives the computer is. Due to the importance computers have in our daily lives, I introduced my sons to it very early. Whether it was looking at pictures or visiting some fun musical websites, I let them both learn how they could gently touch the mouse or push the keys. Now that my oldest son is old enough to begin using the computer for learning activities, I’ve been searching for the right games to introduce him to. The new JumpStart 3D Virtual World games have been very enjoyable for us. We’ve been playing games we received for review. My First Adventure had my son and I creating a character that looked just like him and discovering a new world. It was a great way for us to create our own story and let him practice his mouse skills. We’ve also been playing the JumpStart 3D Virtual World: The Legend of Grizzly McGuffin. Not only do we get to create a little computer person or avatar, we go along on a mission and use our letters and numbers along the way to solve the mystery. It’s a fun way for him to practice the skills we’ve been practicing on paper. For older children you can check out Trouble in Town for 5 to 7 year olds and Quest for the Color Meister for 6 to 8 year olds. Each game comes with an option to subscribe for more levels online, although it is not necessary.
You can find the JumpStart 3D Virtual World games at Amazon.com.
