Moms: Get What You Want – Flowers!

by Jodi on June 23, 2009

Moms deserve all of the pampering we can get!  Flowers, are a great gift for moms because in reality, it doesn’t take a whole lot of work to order, and they are something we rarely buy for ourselves.  But, often, kids and husbands don’t always think of flowers as a gift – especially as a “just because” gift.  The California Cut Flower Commission has introduced “hint cards” which actually provide subtle (ok, not so much) hints to your loved ones to let them know that you’d love flowers.

So, why California Flowers?

  • 75% of all US grown flowers come from California, however they account for only approximately 25% of all cut flowers actually sold in the United States. The remainder is imported from South American countries.
  • California’s cut flower industry generates $10.3 billion in economic impact for the State of California
  • The cut flower industry overall generates 121,950 California jobs and $3.3 billion in wages for other industries.
  • California flowers meet the strictest growing standards in the world.
  • California flowers were raised in a world-class, year-round environment perfect for growing hundreds of varieties.
  • California flowers were most likely still in the field just 24 hours before you purchase them and therefore are much fresher and will last longer.

I received a bouquet of California Flowers in the mail, and was pleased to how fresh and alive these flowers were!  They actually stayed intact for about a week before starting to wilt.  To learn more about California Flowers, you can visit California Grown.
