I like to work on the go, whether it’s while I’m traveling or hanging out at one of my kids’ activities, waiting for them. I’ve used my iPhone as a mobile wireless hotspot, but it can be slow, and since I don’t have unlimited data, I don’t want to use it too much. I recently received a mobile wireless hotspot from NetZero to review as part of their NetZero Ambassador program and hoped that it would work well for me.
The NetZero 4G Mobile Wireless Hotspot is available as two different devices – the Stick for laptops and netbooks, and the Hotspot – for iPads, tablets, laptops, netbooks, and more. I received the Hotspot, which is pictured above. There are also different data plans, depending on your usage needs – from the free plan to the $49.95 platinum plan. There are no contracts and no commitment, although there are some limitations with the free plan.
I’ve gotten a ton of use out of this device. I use it while my kids are at swimming lessons and gymnastics (where the onsite wireless internet access is pretty much nonexistent). I’ve also been able to use it while traveling, at the airport and at my hotel. But, there are a few cons to the device. The battery does drain quickly, so I try to make sure I turn it off whenever I’m not using it. It also doesn’t have coverage everywhere. Strangely, my house is actually in a dead-zone, while the rest of my town has coverage. So I do encourage you to check out the coverage map before making a purchase – you can even input your address and see a detailed map with coverage.
I received the platinum plan with my device, but you can get away with a lower plan if you aren’t going to be using it as much.

Disclosure: I received this device, along with Platinum service, as part of the ambassador program. All opinions are my own.
