As a television addict, I’ve found that the summer is often the best times to catch good reality shows. While there are some good summer scripted programs that I enjoy, reality shows and documentaries just seem to be better summer viewing for me – perhaps because they involve less commitment.
Monday, Oxygen Network will premiere their new docu-series”I’m Having Their Baby“. The six-episode docu-series premieres on Monday, July 23rd at 11PM ET and features the stories of pregnant women who are considering adoption. The docu-series will show two women’s stories per episode, and will showcase the decision-making process and birth.
Obviously, this topic can be controversial, and I was interested to see the first episode, which is available free online. Watching it was both heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once, and I can only imagine how difficult this must be. Ultimately though, while their decisions and process are different, each of the two women featured in this first episode is looking for the best future possible for their child.

yes, such a brave, tough decision to put one’s baby up for adoption. Have a dear friend who adopted 18 years ago and he is going to college this Fall! Wonderful experience all around.

I am so excited to see this show. I’ve always loved watching the birth stories on tv and was always curious about adoption. They did show adoption stories but it was the people who were adopting children. I know I could never give a child up but to see someone else’s point of view as they go through it might give me more insight into why.

I plan on catching the first show at least, and will be a repeat viewer if the program feels “real” rather than contrived and doesn’t seem exploitative at all. If they got the tone right, I think it could be a really intense, emotional, and powerful program.
I don’t watch reality TV because most of it is trash but I like to watch documentary-type shows. If this was set up as more of a documentary with no bias, I’d watch it.
