Summer Television

As a television fanatic, I’m always sad when my favorite shows end for the season.   But, thankfully, there is the summer tv season, plus my favorite shows on DVD.   Here are my summer must-sees, including my favorite shows on DVDs.   What are yours?

Cable Stations

Drop Dead Diva (Lifetime) – my favorite summer show returns for season four, unfortunately featuring Kim Kardashian.   But it’s truly one of my favs, especially for the fabulous Brooke Elliot.

Suits (USA) – a few of my Facebook friends turned me on to this new favorite, which is absolutely worth watching.   You can get season one on DVD and watch them pretty quickly.   Season two just started this week, and is available on demand.

Dallas (TNT) – the new Dallas isn’t a reboot, it’s a continuation.   It’s campy, but a total guilty pleasure.

Premium Channels

Weeds (Showtime) – This is the last season of Weeds, and while it’s not nearly as good as it was in season 1 or 2, it is still better than most shows on television.

Episodes (Showtime) – This show, which features the real Matt LeBlanc playing a fictional version of himself, is hilarious.   Season two starts July 1, 2012 on Showtime.

Web Therapy (Showtime) – Another Friends star, another great Showtime series.   Web Therapy, which started as a web series, stars Lisa Kudrow.   It’s fabulous – definitely worth watching.

TV on DVD

I have a few shows on DVD that I always rewatch when nothing is on.   My three favorites are Veronica Mars (all seasons), Coupling (the UK version, of course), and the Comeback.

What shows do you have to watch in the summer?

  1. I LOVE Episodes. So funny! At first I was kind of hesitant but I really got into it. I was so happy Matt LeBlanc has been winning awards and stuff, he’s great on it.

I am kind of sad to see Weeds end. Yeah, it’s crazy now, but I appreciate that that show can go anywhere and I can’t predict anything.

Summer tv is just not as good. Sigh.

  2. I’m so embarrassed to say I watch some shows that other people would turn their noses down at. Pretty Little Liars is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I also started watching Bunheads – I mean really, a show about ballet by the creator of Gilmore Girls? I have to give it at least a fighting chance. Then there is So You Think You Can Dance – my favorite show of all time. Oh, and I can’t forget Dance Mom’s – Miss Abbie is crazy, and I love her for it. I like Weeds too – didn’t even know it was back on – must, must, must start watching.
