Toy Paradise at the Big Toy Book’s Sweet Suite

Times Square - Sweet Suite Last year, one of my favorite events at BlogHer was the Big Toy Book’s Sweet Suite.   This year, as soon I as heard they’d opened up invitations to the public, I got on the waiting list and was thrilled to get a spot!   This year, it was held at the Viacom Building in Times Square – yes, home to MTV!

I always love to see all of the fabulous new toys, and get some great content for this site.   Here were some of the brands and toys that stood out to me.

Skylanders

I hadn’t heard of these, but when I came home with one, my son was so excited.   Of course, since these components are just a small part of a bigger game, we bought the game for our Wii and the kids can’t stop playing it!   He’s already begging for more characters to add to his collection.   There’s a new game coming out soon called Giants that will use the existing characters as well as new”giant” characters that are being introduced.

Fashion Angels

My son loves drawing, and my daughter loves designing clothes, so the products that Fashion Angels showed are perfect for them.   We have a few of the items, like the Project Runway branded Sketch Portfolio and the Hot Wheels Sketch Portfolio, but my daughter loved the sample of Hair Chox I brought home.   These are definitely great gifts for the holidays.

Xbox Kinect

We have a Wii, but after seeing what the Xbox Kinect can do – I want.   Not only is your body the controller, but with Xbox Live, you can watch Netflix, YouTube, and TV shows right from the system.   A family can have two gaming systems, right?

Alex Toys

Alex Toys had a great booth with crafting products set up for us to try.   I made a flower headband for my daughter, while other bloggers decorated bags and made duct tape bracelets.   These are great products to have on hand for playdates too.

Charm It

I’ve seen these cute charms at Nordstrom, and we had the chance to pick out a few charms for a bracelet.   The charms are so adorable – there are so many great options that it was hard to pick just three perfect ones for my daughter.

These are all wonderful products for birthday and holiday gifts!

Disclosure: I received free samples for review and this post enters me into a contest (I would have written it anyway) :)
